it's all-consuming.. and the way things are going, it's going to last way longer than ww2.. we've got at least another 1-2 years of "negotiating a deal" to endure - imho..

I seldom voice my opinion about the politics of other countries because I'm a citizen of the USA and I know that my opinion matters as little in Europe as a European's opinion matters in the USA, but watching the news I'm reminded of the old "Saturday Night Live" comedy show weekend update skit with comedian Chevy Chase announcing, "...meanwhile, in Spain, Generalissmo Francisco Franco is still dead..."

"Meanwhile, in Great Britain, the 5,964th Brexit debate resumed, and a decision was reached to hold another popular election, ignoring the results of the previous 1,317 popular elections."

Sorry, cousins, but that is kind of how it looks (to me) from over here. I would have expected that after the first election showed that the majority of British citizens wanted out of the Euro-Soviet, it would have been DONE!

Don't get your knickers in a twist: MY opinion on this subject is just a bit less important than my opinion about the weather.

i’ve always wondered about this one.

if the bible says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, does that mean all mankind that have died will come back to life?

if so, what’s the incentive for jws to have an urgency to preach and save people?

There are those who believe in "Universal Salvation" or "Universal Reconciliation."

There were followers of Pastor Russell who were high-ranking members of the Bethel family back in the day, like "Professor" F. H. Robison, who was also a synesthete and author of the series "Color and Character" that appeared in The GOLDEN AGE in 1920 and 1921. Paster Russell didn't "ride herd" on the intellectual wanderings of Bible Students the way today's Watchtower Society does, and in time Robison came to accept the doctrine of Universal Salvation and he left Russell's group.

"Color & Character: A Contemplation of the Four Divine Qualities" by F. H. Robison is available from LULU.com, but is a reproduction of Robison's article "Color & Character" with a biography of F. H. Robison. The title was expanded to remove any hint that it was a racist screed, and there is almost no discussion of the doctrine of Universal Salvation.

There is some further discussion of Robison and this book on this discussion board, as the SEARCH tool will reveal.

Do Any Of You Dream About JW Friends You had ?

what prompted this topic was a dream i had last night where i was engaged in a conversation i had with an old friend where i was trying to prove where the jw`s were wrong from their own bible.. and this is not the first time i have had such dreams.. often times i have had dreams about people i have known in the religion .. remember i have been away from the religion for more than 26 years now and in a totally different part of the country .. i now wonder if any of them ever dream about my wife and i ?

but that`s something i`ll never know.. do any of you have any such experiences ?.

maybe i`m spending too much time on this site lol.

Do Any Of You Dream About JW Friends You had ?

what prompted this topic was a dream i had last night where i was engaged in a conversation i had with an old friend where i was trying to prove where the jw`s were wrong from their own bible.. and this is not the first time i have had such dreams.. often times i have had dreams about people i have known in the religion .. remember i have been away from the religion for more than 26 years now and in a totally different part of the country .. i now wonder if any of them ever dream about my wife and i ?

but that`s something i`ll never know.. do any of you have any such experiences ?.

Sorry, I thought of that the instant I read the subject line and knew everyone here would enjoy it.

I really can seldom recall any dreams I might have, but when awake I often think about the JW kids I grew up with. Different thoughts for different kids, many who were damaged in various ways and few of whom left the JWs.

Usually I feel sad for them.

From Being Slain to Oral Sex

Bourneidentity's comments reminded me of some thoughts I had while preparing my presentation to the United Nations.

One characteristic many cults share is disrespect for the relationship of husbands and wives. The "Guru" will declare, "You cannot have a sexual relationship with the person you regarded as your spouse. The Guru is your connection to The Divine, and you must SUBMIT to The Divine if you wish to experience unity with The Divine."

I have a friend who many years ago was a member of a Gurdjieff group in California. The twist who was the leader of the group was a rich bi-sexual guy who took special pleasure in getting straight guys to yield to the leader and grant the leader's sexual wishes. It was all about POWER and what people will do if you tell them that their salvation is at stake.

Nowhat?, in the scenario you've painted, let's say Bill dies in 2525. His wife will die sometime later - let's say 2530, and his kids sometime after that - lets say 2535.

The Watchtower taught a "LIFO" (last-in, first-out) resurrection back in the late 1960s. This would assure that Bill's kids would be resurrected first, then Bill's wife, then Bill.

What a loving imaginary scenario the Universal Sovereign has provided!
